While I was at the store today, my boss let me know that I needed to call Donna. Donna is one of the ladies who volunteer at the store and she was the one in my dream. When I reached her she said to me, "I did tell you that I am part Navaho right?" I was very curious about where this was going. She proceeded to tell me that the Navaho people believe that when you dream you are really living it but in another dimension. She seemed very concerned by my dream. I just thought she would get a little laugh out of it and that is why I texted her about it. But this was serious to her. She actually felt bad for taking my food and giving it to someone else. She kept say how rude it was. I know why I had the dream, it makes perfect sense to me, but I really don't want to share it. Her response was a surprise to me, I only meant to give her a little chuckle.
We then shared about how old boyfriends seep into our dreams. I have to relieve getting dumped and she had one where she met up with hers in a hotel but did nothing scandalous, and then left and the cops arrested them both. She said that we should go egg their houses, and I told her mine lived out of state and she replied that hers lived in CA. I suggested a road trip and that we could be sorta an alternative Thelma and Louise (although I have never seen the movie but know they were on a trip together). We had a good laugh. She is quick witted and fun to mess with.
Dreams are strange. When I have told my mom about a strange dream she just calls it a pizza dream, meaning you probably had indigestion and it made you dream weird.......weird. There are serious things in the bible about dreams, so I would infer that dreams can be a very serious thing that can give direction. Usually, for me, I can figure out what they are about by tracing back things that recently happened and what I feel about things in my life. For example, I have had people from my high school days pop up in my dreams only to realize that I saw them on Facebook the night before.
What I hate about dreams is they can haunt you. I don't mean haunt like it was a bad dream, but that I can dream about someone or something and it haunts me all day. It gets stuck in my head.
I wonder sometimes who's dreams I make it into or if I even do. It's like wondering if the person who is on your mind has you on there mind too. These are crazy little things that you often never know about.
Years ago my dreams were so vivid that I could see color and smell. I would tell my husband that I lived another life in my dreams.
What do you think dreams are all about? I think that would make an interesting study to see what other people believe they are about and what other cultures have to say. It would also be interesting to find the themes in biblical dreams and learn more about how God uses them in the lives of people.
The day's lesson: Dreams talk to you, what is the message they are trying to send? I think they generally help you sort out thoughts, feelings, and life. And then there are those weird "pizza" dreams that you just have to shake and move on!
